Logo Design Process: How Does It Work?

Contact:  +44 (0) 117 318 5499 | E: [email protected]
Logo design is something I have worked on since the start of my design career and is always exciting. To put your mind at ease and show you why I am best suited to help you with your project, here is my process of getting you to the perfect logo.
"Emily designed my lovely new logo. She worked quickly from a fairly vague brief and produced some excellent designs that encapsulated the look and feel I wanted for my business. Refining that to the final article was an easy process. I would use Emily again and will recommend her to my clients"

Tim Martin, Selling Service
Example 1: Private charter sailing logo

The client liked the colour and idea of the middle bottom row logo but wasn't sure on the boat shape or font.

Step 1:
We have a brief phone call and I ask you some simple questions about what your business does, your audience, likes, dislikes and I'll ask you to send me some examples of logos you like already on the market. This can be absolutely anything but it will help me gauge the sort of style which appeals to you specifically. I invoice for 50% of the fee, requiring payment before work starts.
Step 2:
I design 9 logos ideas based on your information and send them to you to have a look over. At this point it doesn't matter if you don't like any of them, it is all part of the process and you can tell me why you don't. This doesn't usually happen, however. What may happen is you like the colour of one, the illustration in another and the font or a third. That is no problem! You are as honest as possible so we narrow things down.
Step 3:
I narrow the designs down to just 4 using all the feedback you have provided. Then I send the revised versions over to you. Once you've had a good look we discuss what you like and don't like -- narrowing things down even further.
Step 4:
I send back one final version which is the exact design you were looking for and will elevate your business! The remaining 50% invoice is sent over with high res versions of your logo for web, print and anything else you need.

Tim loved another element I had created in the selection of designs so I provided the lightbulb as a separate image to be used over his print and web materials. See the live imagery and logo here:
