Commissioned artwork is one of my favourite things to do! Bringing someone's idea to life and providing them with a digital piece of art to remind them of a memorable moment.
This commission was a special bike ride from Bristol to Barcelona to raise money for some fantastic causes. It was a joy to go through their journey and pick out details I could bring to life with my illustrations.
The final artwork was printed on luxurious German Etching paper 305gms as A2. But because of the nature of my illustrations it can be resized to any scale and the separate bubbles can be used as smaller postcard souvenirs at a later date.
As part of a re-published edition of this 1900's book, I was commissioned to illustrate 62 chapters. Using the first letter of the opening word, I illustrated a character / scene or object which depicted what happened with in that chapter. See all 62 designs below or buy the book here: https://www.rssurtees.com/product/mr-facey-romfords-hounds-2/
Christmas Card and Tile to raise money for the Curzon Roof Appeal
2019 was a busy year and it ended on a high by raising money for the Curzon Roof Appeal. Check out the story in the North Somerset Times:
I sold nearly 800 of this design and more than 20% of the profit went to the Curzon.
For 2020 I would like to do a similar concept for another Charity so please get in touch if this is something which would interest you!
With only one week to go until the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show, I am busy finishing last minute signs, layout ideas and these final products. One of my main aims with my products is sustainability and these lavender bags finish of my products nicely. They are made from the cut-offs of fabric from the Napkins, Tea-towels and cushions which are printed on recycled fabric. The bags are then stuffed with even more left-overs and aromatic lavender and rice for weight.
I have only used sustainable fabrics in the production of all my products and wasting has been kept to a minimum- the fact that I can even use the cut-offs to stuff the bags has really made my project worthwhile and a positive step forward to eco-friendly homewares!
These will be available to buy at the RHS Tatton Park Flower Show (17th -21st July) and then on my Etsy. Please do come and say 'Hi' if you are there, I will be on stand 850a in the Country Living Pavilion.
Today I collected the napkins that have been put together locally in Somerset by the Cats Whiskers. I am so pleased with the quality and how the gorgeous recycled fabric is complimented by the repurposed khaki cotton thread and organic cotton label. They are now available to buy in packs of 2 for just £18 plus p&p. These are reusable - so don't waste money on throw away paper towels and buy sustainable statement napkins!
I only have one month left to get ready for the RHS Tatton Park flower show and I am trying not to panic. As my to do list seems to get longer and longer I have managed to get some brand new designs sent off to print. These Beautiful animals, birds and reptiles will be available to buy at the show and on my etsy page, all printed on recycled paper with recycled envelopes and packaged in cornstarch bags.
One of the hardest parts of being a designer is actually working on your own branding. I like so many different styles, colours and fonts that sticking to one design is nearly impossible. However, I have finally decided upon a layout I am happy with and that is mainly because of the style I have developed over many years of hard work, a Masters, hours of illustrating, but most of all a categorical love for wildlife and a desire to save the animals.
My collections feature designs of animals whose habitats are all being harmed by the farming of palm oil — the orang-utan, the green peacock, the Sumatran tiger and the clouded leopard. As well as a brand NEW collection raising awareness for British Insects which are facing extinction.
These homewares are designed for people who enjoy fashion and interior design but also care about the environment and want to buy considered products with low carbon footprints, using sustainable fabrics.
Everything is printed on recycled fabric, organic cotton or recycled paper and I am proudly PLASTIC FREE.
